Chief Medical Officer
Dinesh Kumar, M.D., is chief medical officer for Alignment Health, a tech-enabled Medicare Advantage company championing a new path in senior care.
In this role, Dr. Kumar is responsible for maintaining clinical excellence across the company’s core Medicare Advantage (MA) business as well as its Accountable Care Organization (ACO) Reach program. With more than 17 years of experience, he is focused on the clinical organization, medical risk adjustment (MRA) and Alignment’s owned clinics.
Prior to joining Alignment Health, Dr. Kumar held various leadership roles within HealthCare Partners Medical Group (now a part of Optum through the acquisition of DaVita Medical Group), a delegated full-risk medical group taking care of Medicare Advantage, commercial HMO and Medicaid patients. He spent his last two years at HealthCare Partners as a national leader of clinical transformation and helped execute on value-based care in various markets. In this role, he worked with internal clients and joint venture partners to set up medical management programs as well as create pathways to taking risk by building the needed infrastructure.
Dr. Kumar received his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.B.S.) from the University of Madras, Kilpauk Medical College & Hospital.
