Alignment Healthcare's Medicare Advantage Plan Wins Overall 4.5-Star Rating from Medicare

ORANGE, Calif. (Oct. 10, 2019) – Alignment Healthcare, a mission-based Medicare Advantage insurance company founded in 2013, announced that its Alignment Health Plan received an overall 4.5-star rating out of a possible 5 stars from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) — comprising 4 stars for its Part C and a perfect 5 stars for its Part D offerings. This makes Alignment Health Plan one of very few Medicare Advantage plans in California to earn the 4.5-star rating, and also puts Alignment in the 90th percentile of all Medicare Advantage Prescription Drug plans nationwide.

As a result, Alignment Health Plan received five stars for assessing members for pain, functional status and medications, as well as for managing chronic diseases including diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis and osteoporosis.

In addition, Alignment Health Plan was rated 5 stars for its Part D prescription drug coverage for the third year in a row. CMS awarded Alignment Health Plan 5 stars in numerous subcategories including:

The quality of the plan offering shows in its clinical outcomes. In California in the past year, hospital in-patient admission and readmission rates among Alignment Health Plan members are well below traditional fee-for-service Medicare benchmarks: 44% lower and 37% lower respectively.

The 4.5-star rating, up from a 4-star CMS rating in 2019, follows wider industry recognition for Alignment’s outstanding health plan, including:
