Vice President, Corporate Communications
Amanda Root is the vice president of corporate communications at Alignment Health, a health care services company focused on providing population health management services to health systems and provider groups around the country.
She is responsible for the strategy and coordination of Alignment’s internal and external communications, as well as the company’s environment, social and governance (ESG) efforts. As Alignment continues its mission to change health care one person at a time and become the most trusted senior health care brand in the country, Amanda’s oversight includes internal communications, social and traditional media engagement and how Alignment makes a positive impact with ESG.
Ms. Root was general manager of CEO and ESG Communications at Delta Air Lines, where she and her team created and executed the external and internal communications strategy that supported CEO Ed Bastian being named a top CEO in Glassdoor’s 2021 Employees’ Choice Awards, the winner of FlightGlobal’s 2021 Executive Leadership Award, and one of IBT’s Smartest and Most Compassionate CEOs, during the most challenging period in the airline’s history. At the same time, her team supported the dissemination of Delta’s inaugural 2021 ESG report and launched Gaining Altitude, a live video series hosted by Mr. Bastian that tackles conversations worth navigating. Previously, Ms. Root also led Global Sales Social Media and Design at Delta.
Prior to her tenure at Delta, she served as a strategy and innovation leader and communications and pursuit strategist at Ernst & Young, where she led pursuit teams to win more than $50 million in new deals in two years through innovative, strategic proposals and presentations across tax, transactions, advisory and audit services. Ms. Root also served as a social media strategist at The Hershey Company, where she supported the design, development and management of the social media marketing strategy for Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest and YouTube for more than 17 brands, representing $7 billion per year in revenue.
Ms. Root holds a Bachelor of Science in Public Relations from the University of Florida. She is an avid traveler, lover of food and passionate about helping others be an incredible, positive interruption in the lives of those they meet.
